Are You The Problem?

Have you been struggling to maintain any kind of relationship? Be it friendship, something special with your partner, or even with your parents, simply because you feel unheard in it?

Or because it feels overbearing to you to listen to them all the time.

Or even because they gave you feedback but there is no room for it according to you.

If any of this applies in your case, then I am sorry to break it out to you but, it might be a sign that your ego is becoming a tad too big and is getting in the way. 🤏🏻

Yes we call BS within this community

And by this, I am not saying that these problems only happen when ego is present. On the contrary, an ego can slowly build up to many of these problems if not more.

In simple words, a big ego can have a devastating impact on your life.

Be it your personal, professional, or any other place.

When your ego gets too big, it can be difficult to maintain healthy relationships with others. You may find yourself constantly trying to prove yourself or one-up others, which can lead to conflict and resentment—further damaging your friendships, romantic relationships, and even your professional relationships.

Not only that, but a big ego can also hurt your career.

If you're always putting yourself first and refusing to compromise, it can be difficult to work effectively with others. This can make you a difficult colleague to work with and may even lead to job loss.

Additionally, a big ego can make it difficult to learn and grow. If you're always convinced that you are a know it all, you may be less likely to seek out feedback or advice from others. This can limit your professional development and prevent you from reaching your full potential.

Finally, when you're always focused on yourself and your own needs, it can be difficult to find joy and fulfillment in life.

Thus can lead to feelings of loneliness, isolation, and clinical depression.

So, if you’re having trouble with all of this, watch out for these signs of a big ego 🤔

❌ Constantly thinking you're better than others

❌ Difficulty in accepting criticism

❌ Need for constant validation

❌ Trouble working as/ with a team

❌ Excessive bragging and exaggeration

❌ Inability to apologize

❌ Envy and jealousy

❌ Isolation and loneliness

❌ Lack of empathy

❌ Resistance to change

Okay, you now know the symptoms of the disease, but what’s the solution

Luckily, I have just the answer ⬇️

Here are 7 Ways to Deal with a Big Ego:

➡️ Practice humility: Humility is not about thinking less of yourself but thinking less about yourself. It's about recognizing that you are part of a larger world and that you have a place in it. Remind yourself that everyone makes mistakes and that no one is perfect.

Just imagine if Virat Kohli stops playing as a team player and only focuses on his own performance, leaving behind the team, will we win any match?

No. Right? The same principle applies to you too.

➡️Be open to feedback: Listen to what others have to say, even if it's not what you want to hear. Feedback is a gift that can help you grow and improve and you shouldn’t take it in any other way. Be willing to consider different perspectives and to learn from your mistakes.

➡️Focus on helping others: Instead of thinking about yourself and you alone, try to focus on helping others too. When you focus on the needs of others, you can shift your attention away from your own ego and find greater meaning and purpose in your life.

➡️Learn to accept failure: Everyone fails sometimes. It's okay to make mistakes and learn from them. Remember, failure is not a reflection of your worth as a person. It's simply a part of the learning process. I have a detailed newsletter on this that you can read from here.

➡️Practice gratitude: Be grateful for the things you have in your life. When you focus on what you are grateful for, you can shift your attention away from your ego and cultivate a more positive outlook on life. And I can personally vouch for the fact that practicing gratitude is super therapeutic.

➡️Seek support: Talk to a friend, family member, or therapist about how you're feeling. Sometimes, it can be helpful to talk to someone who can offer you support and guidance. And lastly,

➡️Remember, you're not alone: Everyone struggles with their ego sometimes. You're not the only one. It's important to know that you are not alone in this struggle. Many people have faced similar challenges and have overcome them. So, try to reach out to others, you can find support, encouragement, and inspiration from.

I would like to conclude by saying that it’s okay to have confidence, but it’s also important to keep your ego in balance. When you recognize the signs and take steps to manage your ego, only then can you start leading a happier and more fulfilling life.
