Imagine this: you suddenly become famous on social media one night. As a result, you are getting more likes, more followers, more attention, and a lot more recognition! Won't you love that?đ
Â
I mean who doesn't want more?
Â
We in some way are addicted to the word âmore.â
Â
However, in this pursuit of "more" leads to a never-ending cycle of dissatisfaction and an elusive sense of fulfilment most of the time.
Confused? đ¤ Let me simplify.
Â
Contrary to popular belief, happiness isn't about having more; rather this happens due to presence of Scarcity Loop. đ
Â
đ§ Your brain is wired to seek out rewards and avoid pain. This survival mechanism is what psychologist calls Scarcity Loop.
Â
đđť When you constantly chase after more, you perceive a lack of something as a threat to your happiness leading to anxiety, depression and what not.
For example - who doesn't want more money? I am sure you do too.đ°
Â
đ However, suddenly if your income stream shrinks, your anxiety kicks in even though the existing amount might still be sufficient to handle your daily necessities.
Â
đ§ This happens because, your brain perceive that gap created as a threat and creates a mental signal to your body ensuring that the money gap needs to be filled as soon as possible or else it will become a roadblock in your happiness.
Â
That is where things need to change. đđť
Â
You need to break free from this loop by rewiring your brain towards finding happiness despite the ebbs and flows of life. And here are a few simple yet powerful ways in which you can do that đ§ :
Â
âĄď¸Â Keep a gratitude journal: Every day, take a few minutes to write down three things you're grateful for. Focus on the simple joys and everyday blessings that often go unnoticed. I have a detailed video on journaling on my YouTube channel. You can use it as a reference to start your journey.
Â
âĄď¸Â Practice mindfulness: Engage in activities that bring you into the present moment, such as meditation, yoga, or simply spending time in nature. Even 2 minutes breathing exercise works.
Â
âĄď¸Â Simplify your lifeâs complexities: Declutter your physical and digital space. Reduce your consumption of baseless content and focus on experiences. I set away at least 1 day at the end of each week for decluttering tasks.
Â
Remember, happiness isn't a destination; it's a journey. Embrace the idea -"less is more" to find the true meaning of happiness in your life.
